Taylor Phinney
Posted by Andy in News, Pro Cycling, Racing on April 4th, 2010
While the big boys of the pro tour have been tuning up for the season at events like Criterium International and, today, the Tour of Flanders, the young guns have been staging their own shoot-outs. Not uncharacteristically, Taylor Phinney of Trek-Livestrong has been slayin’ it.
Last week Taylor killed at the UCI Track World Championships, winning the men’s individual pursuit (yet again). Here’s a photo of his response to victory (note to viewers: get used to this pose).
As a follow-up to this victory, Taylor and team went to the Tryptique Monts et Chateaux, where after falling in the time trial (when he had a huge lead over everyone else) to finish 8 seconds down, he attacked the field near the end of the race and held on for the victory. Here’s a familiar pose:
Pretty sure we all need to get used to seeing Taylor in this pose at the ends of races. What a beast. Go USA and go Taylor Phinney!
Taylor Phinney Fleche du Sud Prologue

Taylor Phinney totally killed this 4k prologue course for the Fleche du Sud on his way to victory for the Trek/Livestrong team. An no wonder, his coach was yelling at him almost constantly for the entire 4k. Early on in the course you can hear the guys in the chase car talking about how Taylor’s already 10 seconds faster than any previous rider. Awesome.
This guy is definitely a major talent, a sure champion in the future of grand racing, and a great addition to the Trek/Livestrong team.

Speaking of Astana, here’s a huge photo gallery featuring Astana’s Giro team. Great stuff!
By the way, you can catch the entire Giro (sometimes with commentary) at Universal Sports. They’re a lifesaver since Versus decided not to televise the race. Unbelievable.
